Gentle, multi-sensory 1:1 tuition that builds reading, spelling and confidence at your child’s pace.
Dyslexia does not just affect reading and spelling. For many children, it also chips away at confidence, leaving them frustrated, exhausted by schoolwork, or convinced they are simply “not clever” without understanding why. If you have noticed some of the early signs of dyslexia, whether that is muddled spelling, slow reading, or a child who has quietly stopped putting their hand up in class, dyslexia tuition gives them structured, specialist support built around how they actually learn.
Every session with ACE SEN is calm, encouraging and tailored to your child, never rushed and never a repeat of the classroom approach that has not worked for them so far.

No two dyslexic learners are the same, so tuition starts with understanding your child’s specific strengths and challenges, whether that comes from a formal dyslexia assessment or from what you and their school have already noticed. Sessions are then planned around what will move the needle for them.
We use structured, evidence-based multi-sensory methods, combining sight, sound, movement and touch, so that letter patterns, phonics and spelling rules are learned in a way that sticks rather than being memorised and forgotten.
Many dyslexic children can say far more than they can write down. Tuition works on closing that gap, using strategies that make writing feel manageable instead of overwhelming.
Difficulty holding onto instructions, sequencing steps, or blending sounds is common in dyslexia. We teach practical strategies that ease the load on working memory, both in tuition and in the classroom.
A child who has spent months or years feeling like reading is a battle needs to feel safe before they can make progress. Every session is designed to rebuild confidence alongside skills, not just drill weaknesses.
You will come away from tuition with practical, realistic strategies you can use at home, so progress does not stop when the session ends.
This service is for children whose reading, spelling or writing is affected by dyslexia, including those who:
Have a formal diagnosis from a dyslexia assessment or an educational psychologist
Are showing signs of dyslexia but have not yet been assessed
Are losing confidence or becoming anxious about reading, spelling or written work
Need support alongside wider EHCP support or additional needs
Are working with school on reasonable adjustments and want extra 1:1 practice at home
You do not need a formal diagnosis before starting tuition. Many families come to us because they recognise the pattern of signs described in our guide to spotting the early signs of dyslexia and want support in place while they decide whether to pursue a full assessment.
Choose the option that suits your family best:
A calm, structured, personalised session tailored to your child’s needs.
Includes a personalised learning plan and progress review. Ideal for children needing longer-term support and confidence building.
Dyslexia tuition and a dyslexia assessment are two different things, and you do not have to choose between them.
An assessment gives you a detailed, written picture of how your child processes language, including their phonological awareness, reading accuracy, spelling and working memory. It is useful for getting clarity, for informing conversations with school, and for understanding your child’s specific profile. Some families prefer to start there. Others, particularly if there is already a strong suspicion of dyslexia and school is on board, choose to start tuition straight away and arrange an assessment alongside it or later on.
If your child’s needs go wider than dyslexia alone, for example if school is considering an EHC needs assessment, an educational psychologist assessment may be the more appropriate route, and a dyslexia-specific assessment can usually be arranged alongside it. We are happy to talk through which order makes sense for your child during your free consultation.

No. Many children start tuition on the strength of the signs their parents or teachers have noticed, without a formal diagnosis. If you are unsure whether what you are seeing points to dyslexia, our guide to early signs of dyslexia is a good place to start, and we can talk it through in your free consultation.
Structured, multi-sensory and evidence-based approaches, combining visual, auditory and kinaesthetic techniques so that reading, spelling and writing skills are built in a way that suits how a dyslexic brain learns.
Where helpful, yes. We can share strategies that support what is happening in the classroom, and where a child already has an EHCP or is going through the process, tuition is planned to complement that wider support rather than duplicate it.
An assessment is a one-off, in-depth evaluation that results in a written report. Tuition is ongoing, regular 1:1 teaching. Families often use both, in whichever order suits their child, and you can read more on our dyslexia assessments page.
Yes. Sessions run either in person or online over Zoom, so location is rarely a barrier to getting started.
